There are things you say with absolute certainty. And then there are things your team saves to remind you of later. Rita has said many things over the years. Some of them were great ideas.

Others… aged well.

“Favorite People will never leave Cascais.”

Cascais was home. It was part of the brand, part of our story and, according to Rita, the only place where Favorite People would ever need to be.

And now… we have a new office in the centre of Lisbon.
We still love Cascais. We just love Lisbon too.

“We will never make clothes for men.”

For years, this was a very confident no. Not a “maybe one day.” A no.

Then Salsa Jeans called. And now… we have an entire collaboration, including overalls for men. Apparently, all it took was the right denim and almost a year of working together.

Never say never. Especially around Salsa.

“Favorite People will only make overalls.”

The original plan was simple: a mono-product brand. One brand, one product, overalls forever.

Today, we make knitwear, trousers, jumpsuits, dresses, wide-leg jeans, shirts and jackets. And yes, still plenty of overalls. The plan changed. The Favorite People attitude didn’t.

“We will never make plain overalls. Prints are our thing.”

To be fair, prints are still very much our thing. But then denim entered the conversation.

And now… we have plain overalls. Turns out plain doesn’t have to mean boring. It just needed the right wash and the coolest fit.

So, what did we learn?

Mostly that Rita should probably stop saying “never” in front of the team. We’re taking notes.
